•       Elevated walkways.

•       640,000 SF of new space and 30,000 SF of renovated space.

CCI developed an overall code approach to address the project's fire protection and life safety challenges. Solutions included:

1.      Equivalent 2-hour Fire Wall design in lieu of structurally independent fire walls.

2.      Approval of a 17 building complex to be considered a single building for the purposes of eliminating the need to rate exterior walls and opening protection with respect to assumed property lines.

3.      Approval to use the automatic sprinkler system code tradeoffs on all new project areas without building structurally independent fire walls.

4.      Approval to use the current building code for project design for the entire project even if new codes are adopted during the project design and construction.

5.      Negotiated over 30 major code issues at a construction cost savings of more than $5 million.

6.      Approval of fire protection concepts for the subway running below the new high-rise building.
